Very bad experience. First time in Mackinac city and this was the first spot. After we got seated and got a drink order taken waitress left and didn’t return until 20 minutes later with our drinks. Then we sat there for about another 20 to get our order taken. After those 40 minutes our waitress never came back till we asked about our food. She said kitchen made a mistake and didn’t make our order. We still waited a-couple more minutes after And they brought out half our tables order and then said they lost the other ticket so the other half of the order was not ready and on top of that they brought out the wrong meat. After 2hrs of waiting we decided to cancel the rest of the order. Really bad service.
Super slow service. We arrived about 530, hoping to get in and back on the road. We were told there was no waiting if we ate inside. We waited for 30 minutes before the server came and took our order. We then had a fee added to our bill which was not clearly poated. This place left a sour taste in our mouth.
The food and service were both excellent. The prices we very reasonable. Everyone left with a full stomach.
Ordered a grilled chicken ceaser salad. Order came out chicken was cold and lettuce was dark and soft.
The whitefish was good and so was the service. However, the table needed a good scrubbing, the tabletop was sticky and the sides had grungy buildup. The 3.4% charge to use a credit doesn't feel right.
The food was acceptable for the price we paid. The waiter (Aaron?) did a good job helping us even though I don't think we were his assigned table. The decor is really dated.Don't expect gourmet meal. More like an Ruby Tuesday/TGIFriday. Hopefully service will improve as the summer progresses..
Not a good experience here. Got seated in the sun, outside, which would not have been a huge problem, except no one came to serve us. Waited 12 minutes and went to find a server. Other people around us were also having a hard time getting served. We got fried pickles for appetizer - don't bother with these. Not worth it. The burgers were so-so. No offer to do anything about the long wait, not really even much of an apology. So, not very good service, food average at best. Cheaper than eating on Mackinac Island - but probably not worth the differenc
Good food on the water reasonably priced, really good service and excellent ambience
Fantastic food, excellent service, reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone.
Nice screened in area to eat outdoors. Wait was an hour (not their fault as nothing else in town open). Ordered a Swiss burger medium done with grilled onions. Burger served with NO Swiss. Onions were cold and not browned/grilled. Bun was soggy in grease and burger was well done, not medium. Onion rings were over cooked to the point the onion was nearly not visible, just a mere skin left. We waited 20 minutes after finished eating for the bill! They were not that busy!! Heather, was very rude when asked to remove the .35 onion charge! “Is this ok for you” as she puts bill in front of me. Instead of apologizing for the burger she says “You just don’t like anything.” We wouldn’t recommend this place for dining.
Very disappointed. I ordered the Michigan Salad which listed on Menu as having Bleu cheese crumbles but none were on the salad. When I asked our waiter he stated "Oh yeah we're out". If I had known that I would have ordered something else. No apologies from him either. Then he never brang refills for our ice tea even after we asked! Finally I had to wait 20 minutes and asked three times for our bill. I won't be going back there!
This is an awesome restaurant located in downtown St. Ignace in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There is natural beauty all around St. Ignace. This restaurant is located right on Lake Huron. They have outdoor seating that offers beautiful views of the lake and Mackinaw Island. The menu has a wide range of options from chicken to burgers and fresh fish from the lake you see from the restaurant windows. Servers are quick and friendly too. The quality of the entrees is excellent.
Food was very good, very nice spot on the on the water. Enjoyable place to have dinner.
Tasty fish and great service in a nice environment. Our server smiled with her eyes and was attentive and friendly.
Overall good experience. I want to give a shout out to the wait staff!! They were all fantastic, especially Kemar our waiter! He did an amazing job and we had a group of people! Thank you Kemar!I don't want to complain as I know times are very odd right now but our food wasn't exceptional. As another reviewer mentioned the fries were lacking in seasoning and a bit soggy. 2 of us ordered salads and they were very good and the kids grilled cheese was great too. Everything else was so so. Wouldn't necessarily come back very often but maybe once in a while.
Food was to die for and the view outside is amazing just understand like any other vacation it pretty prices for me.
Great food, friendly service, great views of Lake Huron. Went 4 years ago for an anniversary.. went again this year and will always come back!!!
The food was delicious, and it came out quickly! Definitely recommend the lobster Mac! Our waitress, Heather, was super sweet and very accommodating (moving us inside because we were cold, and then closing the blinds inside for the same reason). 100% recommend for anyone traveling to the area!
Would rate 0 stars if that was an option. Waited over 30 minutes before flagging a waitress down just to take our drink orders. She walked by our table multiple times and saw we hadn’t been served. It took her ten minutes after flagging her down just to get our drink orders. She used the excuse that they were busy but every single person who arrived after us got served before we did. We didn’t end up getting our food till over an hour after we got seated. Food was burnt and not that great. Not worth the money.
Good service and tasty food. I got the shrimp tossed in bang bang sauce and it had a really perfect texture and flavor. The only complaint I had was for the fries because they were pretty plain and not house made. Apart from this the food was really good and the atmosphere and view of the great lake made the experience worth my time.
I ordered a black bean burger and it came out with bacon AND hair in it. When I asked an associate for a manager, she points to a gentleman behind the bar who looks directly at me. I wait at the end of the non busy bar (4 people) to be completely ignored for several minutes. Our sever comes around the corner and I explain the issues. Since I didn't have time for them to remake it, I asked for it to be comped which she obliged. But no manager addressed it, no apology was given. I can't even give them the benefit of the doubt. And if any of you are taking CDC guidelines remotely seriously, just know the sanitation practices were practically non-existent. Good luck.
This was one of the worst experiences that we’ve had on vacation in a while. As soon as we sat down, we were rushed to place our orders. We told our server that we would like to order drinks and she said to us that the kitchen will close therefore we should order our entrées first. Agreeing with her we placed dinner orders, however they still did not take our drink orders about 15 mins later. The server was extremely rude the entire time. After our dinner was brought out, we again asked the server to bring drinks. She said to us “ I thought you guys were hungry” and then walked away. Another server had to bring out our drinks and apologize on her behalf. The manager was not understanding at all either.
Nice atmosphere and view of the lake from the patio. Good food and drink selections. Have the chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert!
Waitresses were super nice but unfortunately the food was not great. We got the grilled cheese, fried cheese and fried pickles. The pickles were average, nothing stood out about them. The fried cheese (mozzarella sticks) were about the same quality. They had a weird aftertaste that was not great. When it comes to the grilled cheese, the main cheese was the basic plastic cheese. I was not expecting that from a real restaurant. The apples and walnuts were good. The blue cheese was piled in the middle and hardly touched the sides of the sandwich. The sandwich also came with fries that were horrible. They didn’t taste like anything and had a high chance of being undercooked, we couldn’t finish them. Food might have had a better review if we ordered something else.
Fantastic dining experience Sunday 6/7/20 with Emily on the deck! She was more than happy to answer all my questions about the area, the menu, and gave us a hotel recommendation. My food came out fast and delicious. The establishment is clean and comfortable. The view can’t be beat!
Food was good, except my son's burger was burnt. Our waiter was slow. People that sat down after us got their drinks and food before we did. And we had already ordered them. Wasn't given a discount or even an apology from the manager whom I had spoken to.
Eight of us ordered dinner. All eight were excellent. Great location, friendly staff, incredible views. Only wished I lived closer, but will definitely be back again.
Staff is great and the view is remarkable! Very accommodating to kids. We had fish tacos, white fish, spaghetti and chicken tenders.
Food was good, service was decent considering how busy it was and the social distancing restrictions. Our server Austin seemed like he was new, but he did his best. We would return.
The food was excellent 👌, this post is from 2020 so it's nice to note that the staff where very accommodating and they where wearing mask's and keeping a polite professional distance.
Drinks were very good but make sure you have lots of time slow service. Orders did not all come out correctly and make sure to check your bill amounts are right.
Waiters made u feel comfortable. Great customer service an the food selection was fantastic. The drink selection was great. Would eat there again. Reasonable prices.
This was one of the highlights of our trip north! The staff was amazing and very accommodating. The food was amazing. Whitefish ceasar salad was awesome!
Sweet potato fries were a little too well done and the kids pepperoni pizza was not a good flavor. Other than that, it's a nice place.
Good food and great view, pleasant servers, especially JOYCELYN 😃👌
Very clean and covid-19 safe, social distancing goes way our into parking lot. Excellent Sunday breakfast.
Good food! The great lakes whitefish was great. Patio has a good outlook of Lake Huron.
No gluten free buns for the burger, but the BBQ burger was better without a bun.
The place was nice and we were able to get seating but you could tell it was touristy - my husband ordered the burger with Mac n cheese on it and the meat itself was flavorless. It felt haphazardly prepared. Not an issue with the staff, everyone was very nice and courteous but the food wasn't great. Overcooked, over priced, over rated.
Honestly was not super impressed by the food but bartender inside was awesome. He made me feel like a local and outside area is beautiful!
The food was average to above average. Bourbon burger and Whitefish was good. French dip was so so. Although there was a wait for a table, service was good. The 3.4% credit card surcharge left a bad taste in my mouth. The explanation was “it is the credit card machine”. Processing credit card transactions is a cost for any business, you are not unique and 90% plus restaurants have seemed to figure this out. The signage wasn’t great for this “fee” either. Just build it into your menu prices otherwise it seems like a cash grab when the bill comes.
Mackinaw Grill is full of passion, drive, love, commitment, and DELECTABLE Whitefish & Pasties. Go for the poor man's dinner or the pasties... premium quality, fair price, & reasonable portions. Say hi to Ron at the helm as you sail into a fun & buzzing atmosphere and BEAUTIFUL setting. True Northern hospitality all the way around 😉.Say thank YOU for exceeding your expectations ;).
Excellent views. Decent food. A little pricey and dont be in a hurry if you go
Quaint restaurant. Lots of seating. Good food. Reasonable prices.
The food was amazing! The staff was super friendly! Our waitress was really nice with our twin toddlers
Unforgettable experience ! Ordered fish & chips with our waitress Rosemary. This lady had the nerve, after I asked if it was fresh, to briskly swipe three of her fingers against my upper lip and pop her (brown covered?) thumb in my mouth. “Yeah Cowboy, you like it fresh ? Then taste that fresh catfish”, she whispered in my ear. Rosemary was NOT fresh !
